SkyFi 3 | Cannot Connect To My New Windows 10 Laptop Ad Hoc Network (Solution: Read For Workaround)

I know there has been a lot of posts about this but I still have an issue with my new laptop.  It is a Dell.  I have paid to put it through two computer repair shops and spent a lot of money on it with no success.  It is a SKyFi 2 I believe, it is square and I have had it a long time.  The old laptop worked OK using some of the work around protocols but that box is dead.   What both have told me is that the Dell wifi driver will not support it.  It prevents you from making any changes via a script.  So it is a dead end.  They suggested that I ask Simulation Curriculum if they have some way to get around the problem.

Right now I have spent a lot of money for a new Dell Laptop and over $200 in "smart computer guy" service and I have no solution, any thoughts.

Why Hosted and Ad-Hoc Networks are Not Working on Windows® 10

Thanks, Robert for your workaround solution!

Guys, as it happens I bought a SkyFi 3 at last years TSP.  It has not been used yet (another story).  Any chance it might work differently.

Windows has made it very had to connect to an Ad Hoc network.  I actually don't know if any of the workarounds still work.  I would google for "Ad Hoc network window" and see what tips come up.

The SkyFi 3 creates a regular Wi-Fi hotspot (not Ad Hoc), so you should be able to use it.

    Frainiea,

Another option is to get a separate device that creates a wifi hot spot, and then connect both your new computer and your SkyFi 2 to it.    The SkyFi 2 will connect to existing wifi networks ... so just use another device to create that network.
