How To Align A Celestron 130SLT So That SkySafari Points Accurately?

How can I tell the app where my telescope is pointing, it is never in the correct spot and when I try to align it always throws things off. Let’s just say for example my app says i’m Looking at Mars but I’m actually pointing at the moon?

    Samuel,

We need more information before answering that.  How are you connecting to the mount?  Are you using the special Celestron Wi-Fi option or are you connecting via something like our SkyFi?

If the latter, the problem is likely that you haven't star aligned the mount before connecting.  You must align using the hand controller before connecting so the mount knows where it is pointing.

It is also possible that the time & location in the mount is different from that in SkySafari.  With Celestron mounts you should generally enable "Set Time & Location" in the Telescope Setup settings to ensure the mount has the correct time & location.

    Hi Bill,

Thank you for your reply, and sorry for my late reply, as I've had some major life events happen. Back to looking at the night sky.

I connect via Celestron SkyPortal WiFi Module. I have screen caps of how it looks vs where it's looking if that helps.

Is there a step I'm missing in terms of setting up? I turn on my telescope, connect to it via WiFi on my phone, then connect via the app. As soon as I'm connected to the app, it's never showing the correct part of the sky the telescope is observing.

    Thank you,

    Samuel,

Celestron has asked us to refer customers with Celestron Wi-Fi problems to their customer support.

However I will ask, when you connect, are you doing the Connect & Align?  This is necessary.  The scope will not know where it is pointed unless you go through the alignment process.
