iPad, SkyPortal/SkySafari5+ Scope Control and Browsing , AVX/StarSense/Wifi Configuration: iPad Work-Around After 11.x Release?

Am a loyal user of SkyPortal/SS5+ for Android and iPad, and am considering SS6+ for iPad. Need help on an issue where, recently, SS5+ iPad will begin to "stutter" and try to remain on a specific compass point when I try to move across the sky to ID objects. As well, iPad appears to be trying to calibrate the device by invoking the Compass Calibration Screen every minute or two while using the app. And, does not allow a full rotation to complete the circles before disappearing.  Android does not have either of these issues.

Apple 3rd-Level Support advises that, with the 11.X release forward, they no longer provide the "Compass" app to iPads as part of their periodic software upgrade packages, and it is not available via the App Store. Other compass apps do not link with SS in a amnner that would restore the native Apple functionality.  Pakaged compass app will continue on iPhones with no change. My Android device is a Note 5 and SSP/SP work perfectly, however, it provides too small a screen for my old eyes. want to use the iPad version to control my AVX/StarSense/Wifi configuration. Since functionality continues to work on Android, that is a course to take, but want to avoid buying an Android tablet. Do you have a solution or a workaround to make my iPad Air work as it did before?
Thanks so much for a great product!

The fact that there will be no compass app on the iPad doesn't mean that the iPad doesn't support the compass.  I'm quite sure that the compass feature in SkySafari will continue to work on iPad in iOS 12.  Apple is heavily pushing Augmented Reality which requires the compass to work.
