John,
If you haven't already, try reinstalling the firmware. I've seen one case where the reset that happens during a firmware upgrade fixed a mis-reading battery.
http://www.skysafariastronomy.com/skyfi-3-professional-astronomy-telescope-control.html (look halfway down the page for instructions).
After updating th firmware, it still took another 24 hours to fully charge the battery.
Thanks.
John Carter.
After the 24 hours, did the charge then say 100% or was it still 50%?
I didn’t check the actual status. I just saw that the power light went out. I continued working with the unit for a few minutes and the power light stayed off even though the unit was plugged into power. I’ll report back tomorrow on the actual status after letting it sit unused for a spell.

After 48 hours of non-use, the battery level show 98%. So all seems to be fine.
It just took much longer than I expected to get a full charge - even from 50%.

Are you using the charger that came with the SkyFi 3? It shouldn't matter but I'm curious.
Keep us posted if this long charging time continues. Not sure what that could be about.
