SkySafary 6 Pro - Android, First impressions

Installed today the new SkySafari 6 Pro for Android, some initial findings:

1. The database for Telescopes, Cameras, Binoculars is pretty limited. For example the Nikon D7000 is not listed, QHYCCD selection don't cover the new USBIII series at all. Binoculars are limited to Celestron, Meade (1 only) and Orion. How about Nikon, Leica, Fuki, Pentax which are also popular

2. Synscan Wifi Adapter is not native supported when connected, still have to go through by starting Synscan App and connect by selecting Skywatcher Synscan and add the IP address and Port manually

3. LiveSky website doesn't support SkySafari 6 for Android, still writing "Coming soon"

4. My observation lists I created in SkySafari 4, imported to SkySafari 5 cannot be used/imported to SkySafari 6. Even you add SS6 into LiveSky, it won't let me upload from SkySafari 5.

For now that's my initial findings.

Cheers

Tom

    1. We have made a first pass at add the most popular equipment.  It is a huge effort.  We will continue to add to it over time.

    2. We are currently working on this with SynScan.  They originally developed their software without giving us a heads up.  Supporting it is non-trivial.

    3. Will fix.  Thanks.

    4. Have you tried following the instructions at the top of the Help?  It talks about how to migrate your data from SS5 to SS6.

    Thanks Bill for the feedback,

    1. Noted, maybe I thought wrong that after the iOS version is so long out it had already an updated database

    2. I saw previous posts that this would be implemented in v6, however the way how it worked in v5 is still working in v6

    3. Thank you, looking forward that I can edit my observation lists.

    4. I admit the help was the last thing I touched, for me was the testing most important. Followed the help and it worked.

    Thank you

    Cheers

    Tom,

We have fixed the LiveSky server to work correctly with Android.  We just had a stray character in the wrong place.  Please wait about 15 minutes and give it a try.

    Bill,

I don't know if it's because I was a beta tester but when I log in LiveSky and want to see more (all my Observing lists or Equipment), LiveSky still want I buy SkySafari Plus. Whe I foollow the link to Google Play, I can see the app was installed.

    Thanks for your help,

    Gervais,

Could you please send me an email to info@livesky.com including the email address you're using to login to LiveSky, and I'll have a look? This should be fixed for everyone now.

You should see v.1.5.4 in the lower right of LiveSky when you're logged in.

I just tried it and it still not working either.
I get the dashboard populated with my observing list, equipment Etc. But when I click on "see more" in each category I get a screen asking me to purchase Sky Safari Plus or Pro Android app coming soon

Here is another bug that is in ss6+.
When hide observed objects in the observing list is checked and you add a new observation the Highlight on the chart should disappear but it does not until you uncheck and then check again hide observed objects. You also have to do the same thing for the highlight to reappear on the object if you delete the observation.
