I have Skysafari 6 Pro. installed on my iPhone Xs Max on iOS12. When I try to install the GAIA Extension Database, the download / install freezes about 4/6 of the way through and it never completes. When I restart the phone and go back into Skysafari and try again, the same thing happens.
I even fully reset / erased my phone and tried installing Skysafari 6 Pro. first, followed by attempting the GAIA Extension Database install and the same thing happens. It just freezes and never completes.

Bill Tschumy I'm not sure what to tell you about this. The file is downloaded by Apple and we don't have much to do with the process. The only thing I could think of is being out of space on your device, but it sounds like that is not the case since you tried this after a reset of your device.
Are you downloading over Wi-Fi of cellular data? If cellular, you might try Wi-Fi. If you are already on Wi-Fi, you might try another hotspot.
The only other thing I can think of is the following: We are in the midst of changing the data from the UCAC5 catalog to the more recent GAIA DR2 catalog. We have the new data uploaded to Apple but have been unable to release a new version of the app because of a problem on Apple's servers. Apple is looking into what the problem is. I suppose it is possible that this glitch is somehow affecting the download. However, if so, you are the first to report it.
When you see the item on the Settings > In-App Purchase screen, does it say "UCAC5 Extension" or "GAIA Extension"? It should still say the former until we have the new release out.

Synomenon I've tried downloading over wifi and my cellular data connection and I've tried over wifi at home and at work. My iPhone is the 512GB model. In the in-app purchase screen, it shows it as "GAIA Extension Database".

Bill Tschumy Apple has some sort of problem with versioning hosted content for in app purchases. That is part of what they are trying to fix. I suspect that is the root of your problem. I am surprised you are now seeing "GAIA Extension" because last time I looked, the shipping app was showing "UCAC5 Extension".
I do apologize for this but I'm not sure there is much you can do right now. After we release the new version of the app this will work correctly. It is also possible that Apple will correct it on their end.
We should be releasing the new version next week.

Synomenon So I went back into the app. today to check again and now the the extension isn't even showing in the list of In-App. Purchases. Only the "Interactive H-R Diagram" and "PGC Extension Database" are appearing.

Simon Race I updated the app yesterday on iOS. I have previously purchased the extended databases. Since the update I can see the Gaia database listed. But when selecting restore purchases only the PGC database of galaxies reloaded and shows installed. The Gaia database doesn’t even start a download and shows purchased instead of installed. How can I get the Gaia database downloaded please ?

If the app shows "Purchased" then your Gaia database has been installed. We will release an update soon that addresses the cosmetic issue, changing "Purchased" to say "installed".
