Why Are Double Stars In Observing Lists Not Showing Association With List And Not Un-Highlighting When Observed?

I have been experiencing a strange, and I think related, issue with double stars in observing lists.  The list in question was a series of entries from the WDS catalog, which I imported into SS6 and which imported with no problem.  As usual, I selected the "highlight objects" and "hide observed" options to allow me to work through the list efficiently.  SS6 showed all of them on the sky map and did a perfect go-to on each one of them, but when I attempted to enter a new observation, (1) it did not recognize the object as being on the observing list I was working from; (2) when I tried to designate the observing list manually from the observation page, it told me the object was not on the list and prompted me to add it; (3) now each object is showing twice in the observing list, with a check mark beside both instances; and (4) the object are not hidden in the sky map.

My suspicion is that this is cause by a failure to relate the various catalog numbers that accompany double stars, although I can't be sure of that.  I am running SS6 Pro version 6.1.0.34 on a Samsung Galaxy Tav S2, Android version 7.0.  It would be great if this issue could be fixed.  Thanks!

    Chris,

We will look into this.  Most likely it is related to which component is found when search for the object.  Sorry for the grief.

Thanks, Bill. I recently created a double star observing list in SS6, using the planner. This list exhibited the problem to a lesser extent than with an imported list, and with the SS6 - created list, it did seem to relate to selecting different components of the double. I appreciate your looking into this.

    Bill,

Just to give you some further information on this, experienced the issue again recently on an observing list with deep-sky objects -- specifically the galaxies in Markarian's Chain.  They were highlighted on the screen, I clicked on it on the star chart, entered an observation, and it did not associate with the observing list nor mark it observed on the star chart.  It appeared that the app was focusing on some different catalog number (M vs NGC, for example), perhaps.  If you want, I can send you the observing list in question so that you can see it (or you can just pull it off LiveSky if that is easier).  Thank you again for looking into this.
