[UX Issue]* SS6pro SolarSystem Update & SkyWeek download with other android supported internet connections such as OTG Ethernet (& also VPN or reverse tether), but LiveSky module does not detect OTG Ethernet or reverse tether ethernet connections

           I mostly use OTG ethernet or reverse tether with my android tablets.  Since using SS5 & SS6 I have run Android 7.1 & SS5pro & SS6pro with android OTG Ethernet (e.g. eth0 ) which has & continues to work very well for in app Solar System data updates & SkyWeek calendar download updates & links as well as the GBs of download for the google play install of SSpro, etc)

           However, the newer LiveSky module still does not recognize the otg-ethernet internet connection (it appears to only recognize a wifi connection so far).  Please enable this module to recognize an internet connection via android otg ethernet (e.g. eth0) just like the data updates & skyWeek modules already do.

  Also, DSS download works fine with otg ethernet (& also fine with reverse tether) on an individual object basis via object info --> more, but the DSS batch download module for observing list, like live sky appears to only look for wifi or cellular internet connections.

  Thanks for the video.  I saw that you are in Airplane Mode.  Does that have anything to do with the error?

  Hi Keiron,

  --toggling airplane mode either way has the same results...added those long videos to the album...and as you already saw in the prior videos the SS modules for single DSS downloads & SS updates already work just fine with otg or reverse tether ethernet even with airplane mode on so hopefully it is easy to spot the code difference & make the LiveSky & batch DSS modules check for internet connection the same way... 

  --I also did confirm that batch DSS & livesky modules do work when the connection is via wifi...just not with other android cable ethernet connection types

  --where/how do the batch downloaded DSS get displayed?  they are not yet added to the celestial sphere as indicated in this post:

  • and if I go to 'object info-->more' I have to redownload the image (i.e nothing displayed from cache when not connected to the internet)
