Why Can't SkyBT + SkySafari 6 Pro On Android 9 Make A Successful Connection To An Original Celestron Nexstar 8 (Answer: Celestron Firmware 4.0 Or Higher Is Required)

On my galaxy s10 phone I can see the SkyBt Bluetooth and pair successfully to it when I enter the scope the only Celestron close to mine is the Celestron Nexstar 5i/8i. When I try to connect it says a wireless connection can be made but the scope is not responding. I have tried each Celestron scope the only success if you can call it that is the Celestron Skybox which will connect but does nothing to slew or move the scope. The only Bluetooth connection is with the skyBT.

    Hi Mike,

Have you star-aligned your scope using the hand controller, prior to trying to make a connection from SkySafari?

    If not, please do so.

However, if you are using an Original Celestron Nexstar 8 (silver) then SkySafari is not going to connect.  The firmware in the hand controller must be version 4 or higher.

    Thanks!
