I have SkySafari 5+, and am considering upgrading to SkySafari 6+. Please tell me what 6+ has that 5+ doesn't. Thank you.

Keiron Smith Please see the What's New sections on the official SkySafari website.
https://www.skysafariastronomy.com
There is a What's New in the comparison chart as well.
Thanks!

bfeinner I still have 5+ on my phone, and want to copy it to a new tablet. It's no longer available in Google Play. How can I get it to my tablet?
-
Chris On your Android device, open Google Play Store app, go to My Apps and Games, search for SkySafari 5.
-
bfeinner Thanks for the prompt reply. I can't find My Apps and Games. Can you please tell me exactly where it is?
-
bfeinner I found My Apps and Games, but Skysafari 5+ isn't listed.

Keiron Smith Log into Google Play Store using the same account that made the original SS5 purchase. SS5 must be available. If not, it is an issue to be taken up with Google Play Store support.
Thanks!

bfeinner OK. I'm in the same account, and it's not listed. I'll attempt to contact them. Thanks.

bfeinner I contacted them. They say it's your problem. You say it's their problem. Since I paid for 5+ and it's not available, can I get 6+ for free? If yes, how would I do that? If no, something is rotten here.

Chris Are you using the play store app or play store via the web?
-
bfeinner Play Store App. It's on an Amazon Fire 7 tablet, which doesn't come with Play Store, but I installed it. It comes with Appstore, but I don't think it makes any difference. Maybe you know otherwise. I don't think i tried it from the Play Store website.

Chris There's your problem; I don't think SkySafari is compatible with fire tablets, so probably won't show up.
-
Keiron Smith Thanks Chris! You are correct. SkySafari is not compatible with Amazon Fire. SS6 Pro should not available for sale to anyone on the platform.
-
bfeinner I've installed the free version of Skysafari on my Fire, and it works perfectly. 6+ and 6 Pro both show up as available in Play Store, and 6 Pro is listed in Appstore. Why would the free version work and the other ones not? And why not make 5+ available to those who have purchased it so they can install it on other devices? Isn't that supposed to be the deal?

Keiron Smith Amazon Fire has a custom version of Android OS (Fire OS), and therefore requires specific modifications to SkySafari in order to ensure compatibility. In the past, we tried, there was not enough sales of SkySafari on Amazon Fire tablets to support the cost of maintaining the code. If SS6 works then great, but if it does not work you can ask for a refund. We are not officially supporting Fire OS.

Chris The SkySafari Pro on the fire app store seems to be a fake/scam. It's not listed by simulation curriculum and several reviewers say it's a scam. Keiron, you might want to look into reporting the app for copyright infringement, which is an option in the app store. I think they're using your name and images.
Google play store obviously doesn't come loaded on the fire tablets, and the guides that help you get it installed generally say YMMV on what will or won't work, so I'm not surprised. I think the fire would REALLY struggle with running + or pro smoothly.

bfeinner OK, I understand that. I don't intend to purchase 6 Pro, all I really want is to install the app I already paid for on my Fire. If I could install it and it doesn't work, I would understand that it's not supported. IMO, you should either make 5+ available to those who have bought it, or make 6+ available to us for free because 5+ isn't available. If that can't be accommodated, I'll continue with the free version which, as I said earlier, works well on my Fire. Thanks for your time and indulgence.
