Someone from the company replied to another post saying that ver 6 is obsolete, isn't supported, and they should upgrade to 8. Then why are they selling 6 on Google Play? Did I get ripped off?

  There must be some confusion here; can you send a link to the post you're referencing?  Maybe they were talking about Android 6?  SkySafari 6 is most definitely not obsolete, as there IS no version 7 OR 8 for SkySafari.  You didn't get ripped off.

  You're right. I guess the other subforum was referring to Stary Night 6. It's confusing how there are multiple similar products supported by the same forum.
