Starry Night 8 Pro Plus Night Vision mode

I just installed Starry Night 8 Pro Plus and the very first thing I tried to use was the Night Vision mode and got an error box saying "Night vision error. The video card in this computer does not support Starry Night Pro Plus's night vision mode."

I have a Nvidia Geforce GTX1080 with 8 GBytes of ram

16 GB system memory

and a water cooled i7 8700K (Not over clocked) CPU

Every other version of Starry Night I have owned From Starry Night 4 - 6.5 on MUCH older video cards and system 8GB ram,  and slower CPU's could run Night Vision mode.

So what video card do I need to buy to use this important feature when I am doing Astrophotography?

    Hi Edward, sorry to read you encountered an issue with Night Vision mode.  I'm not aware of this specific issue but we'll look into it.  Can you send me a screenshot of the error?  and the error report text if it gave you one?  I'm assuming you've updated the video card driver.  You can also try to reset your Starry Night Prefs by selecting FIle-Preferences and then clicking the Defaults button on the upper left of the dialog window that opens.  Thanks.

    Hi Edward, 

    Previously, this error message has been associated with problems with Windows 10 builds (1903 specifically) which is interfering with the system calls GetDeviceGammaRamp & SetDeviceGammaRamp, which are calls SN uses to change the gamma of a display in order to create Night Vision Mode.

    Hi,

    I just purchased a copy of Starry Night 8 Pro Plus. I have the same problem, can't get night vision mode to work, get same error message, I have a Dell Precision 5510 with Nvidia Quardro M1000M 2gig video card. My laptop is up to date with drivers, as of today every driver, windows update etc. per Dell and Microsoft. thanks.

    I have waited this long to try SEVERAL Windows 10 updates and now installing version 2004 and still I can not get Night Vision mode to work. is it a deal breaker.. not really but it sure makes going to adjust telescope settings easier if I do not have my night vision ruined by a white computer screen. On a side note I tested it on my AMD RX 570 AIO computer and it worked fine (Just tested I have uninstalled it) I have not tested on my 5 year old Laptop but can if desired.

    Maybe the issue has to do with the monitor that you are using. I have an Asus laptop and SN did not work with my secondary monitor, when I changed the display to the monitor Night vision worked without problem. If your device is a Desktop maybe changing the monitor cable can help.

    @Jaime de le Jara Fuentes I do not think so as I swap my monitor from desktop to laptop and it worked on my test with laptop but not when on my desktop that I hoped to use as my imaging and scope control system not on the mult-system monitor nor on the OLED hooked to desktop (I just does not like my Desktop). It also worked on my All-inOne when tested. Currently I am not even using it at all until I figure out what will be my permanent Astrophotography computer.

    I will try to reinstall on desktop later as there have been a few more updates to both Windows and the Nvidia 1080 drivers. Trying to decide if I will be just upgrading the video card with a Nvidia 3080 or building a whole new computer with Nvidia 3080, 32 GB ram and an i9 cpu.

    Hi, any progress with this?  Getting the same message. I just installed Pro 8 on a Windows 11 computer with a GTX 1060 card (and otherwise more than enough ability to do consistent Adobe Premiere Pro video editing work).
