SkySafari 6 Pro On iOS + StarSense Fails To Plate Solve (Answer: Post Closed To Comments, Follow Linked Post Instead)

I wrote a couple of months ago but have not received a reply. First let me say that my SkyPortal works 100% of the time, no problems. Using my Celestron Evolution 8, with SkySafari 6 Pro, however, isn't possible. The app freezes at various places early in the alignment process, i.e., the app stops responding (wheel spinning), I have to reboot my Ipad pro to restore functionality. Other than deleting and restoring the app (which I've done already), is there anything else I can do? I really like this app in spite of the many problems I've had over the past year and a half, and I'd like to continue to find answers...the app has great potential. Alas, seemingly not for me.

Any advice would be most appreciated

Joe

Hi Joseph, I've asked our dev team if they are aware of this issue  but given that it works in SkyPortal, it should theoretically work in SkySafari as well.  Can you provide a bit more detail to help us understand the problem?  iOS version, detailed steps of what you are doing before it freezes, telescopes settings you have selected in SkySafari to connect,  etc - even a short video might help.  Thanks.

    Thank you Pedro,

Let me give you the information I have in hand. I'll continue to explore and add to this thread going forward.

Although I'm reporting on the most recent "freezing" of the app, this did happen once before, so this is the second replication of the problem.

    1. Using StarSense and doing a three star manual alignment

    2. I was able to align one star and prompted to go to a second alignment star

    3. It was at this point that I slewed the scope to a second position, pressed the "align" button and the app hung up, i.e., no functionality (wheel spinning), had to reboot iPad to exit the app.

    4. After rebooting, tried again

    5. Same thing, although I can't recall if I was able to get one or two stars aligned...but, nevertheless, it froze before I could make the three star alignment.

Question: should I delete the app and reload it and try again? I've done this once before, but not sure if you think that would help. Also, any specific instructions that I should try going forward?

    Thanks for looking into this,

    Joe
