Getting error : ASCOM.Celestron
Unpark Failed, a full alignment must be done.
I can connect to the mount via the ASCOM diagnostics on Com3. This very well could be a normal message until the scope has been aligned. I just do not know what to expect being new to the software.

Alignment that was not done at the time I was trying to get the Starry night to talk with the scope ( testing ). Configuration after install of software
Alignment is typically done via Polemaster
I'm connecting to the scope via a mini usb underside of the Nexstar+ handset connected to a usb port on the laptop. I use this method when using Celestron's sky application ( CPWI )
I have updated all drivers, the ASCOM platform to the latest 6.3xxx, was able to get Starry Night to save the configuration as Administrator, my Windows 10 machine with all latest updates is seeing the Celestron 8 SE but when I go to Connect I am getting this same error: "Unpark failed, a full alignment must be done." I have Starry Night 6.4.3 which is older, but updated and the 8.0.6 that Stephen above is having shows version may have nothing to do with this. Did anyone resolve this, or as Stephen suspected, was this a normal message and it just needs aligned first?
I really like Starry Night and don't want to go to another software package.

You must align with the Celestron hand controller and then you can connect with Starry Night. Any other alignment configurations are not supported at this time.

Starry Night must be connected either directly, via USB-to-Serial or USB-to-USBmini or wirelessly via SkyFi 3, to the Celestron hand controller.
The Celestron mount must be aligned first via the hand controller.
Then connect with Starry Night.
Other configurations, via Polemaster and CPWI are not supported with Starry Night.

Thank you. I do have the USB to the hand controller. So, I align first with points in the sky with the hand controller. Does it matter in what order I need to connect the USB to the Handcontroller? Or, in other words, do I connect it first, go ahead and align the telescope while it is connected, and then click the Connect telescope button in the Starry Night software, OR, do I leave unconnected, align the telescope and then connect the USB to handset? Or does this even matter?
It doesn't matter when you connect the USB-to-USBmini cable. It only matters that you align first using the hand controller before trying to connect with Starry Night.
You are awesome Keiron and thank you for your swift reply. I just realized I got Starry Night software Upgrade to 8.0 with the purchase of the Celestron 8 SE. I overlooked this when unpackaging! I know what I will be doing tonight! Starry Night rocks!!!
