I have an issue aligning my AVX using Celestron Skyportal wifi dongle and SkySafari 6 plus. The first star aligns as expected but when i select the second star the mount slews to the wrong part of the sky. I am a newbie to astronomy however I have been able to make alignment with the hand controller only. The log file is too long to attach, any suggestions?

Pedro Braganca Hi Allan, I suggest you contact Celestron directly - I don't have an AVX mount to test but we do work with Celestron closely and they will get you all setup with the Celestron SkyPortal app and your specific mount.

Allan Saville Hi,
I very much like the extra features of SkySafari so may also look into the skyfi option. I have been able to make a USB (prolific usb to serial adapter and BT/USB/TCP Bridge Pro 2.5) connection from android SF6 to my synscan HC ( I have an EQ6 and AVX), it can work but the connection drops out often. AVX HC will connect and receive goto commands but does not update SF with co-ordinates. So USB cable connection on android is currently not reliable enough to be an option so will take a look at skyfi.
Many Thanks
Allan

Allan Saville Hi,
I tried again last night and had success using a USB C to serial adapter cable with FDTI chip to connect SkySafari 6 on my android 9 phone to my Celestron AVX HC serial port. The connection dropped out during my observation session but was simple to reconnect, I did alignment on the HC first then connected SkySafari 6 (without SF alignment). The bridge software BT/USB/TCP Bridge Pro 2.5 is required to bridge between TCP and the USB cable. This bridge software did stop a few times during ~2 hours of observation but was not a problem to restart then reconnect SkySafari. As someone very new to astronomy I was very impressed with SkySafari telescope control and the number of objects I was able to view was excellent.
