How To Change Time/Date Stamp (DD:HH) On An Orbital Path? (Answer: Read On!)

Hello,

I would like to generate a celestial view in SN8 Pro where you can see the movement e.g. of comet C/2020 F3 Neowise for the next couple of days.

For each day there should be displayed the position and the date.

I have found the following thread that describes how to mark the celestial path with an increment of 1 day

But the text displayed on the oribit by SN8 is not the date, but the time... how can I modify the text markers for each day not display a time, but the corresponding date?

    See Options > Orbit/Path Options

    Choose Home > Center NeoWise > Enable Local Path > Select th
    e day (see below) > Increase the day, step-by-step, using keyboard arrow tabs.

    As you step through the days Starry Night will write DD:HH beside the local path.

    Starry Night will modify the marker based on the time increments chosen.

    Hi,

    thanks a lot, that's nearly what I have looked for. It was not clear to me, that it displayes day and the hour seperated by a double point. In your country it is more clear, because you're using "am" and "pm", but here in germany we are using 24h time format, so it's not so clear...

    In my opinion the way to display label text on the path is not very user friendly. It would be great, to have the possibility to modify the text that is displayed in a more comfortable way. Maybe in the path options dialogue should be a possibility to modify the format

    I would like to generate text marks with day and month. The displayed time should not be displayed in my usecase...

    I think it's a good idea for a feature request. I will place one.

    As I said, Starry Night will modify the marker based on the time increments chosen.  If you step by months then Starry Night will show DD:MM.

    So, I don't see the problem here.

    The problem is that you cannot control which text labels are displayed. e.g. I am using the path function to create some overview maps for a website. For that I want to put specific labels to the points of the path so the reader easily understands what he can see. For that it would be very helpful to have the possibility to control the content of the text labels, e.g. displaying only the day and the month (because the created chart shows the objects position for each day at the same time, so displaying the hour is redundant in this situation.
