What Can I Do If My SkySafari 6 Plus Compass Mode Has Failed, I See A White Ball Of Stars? (Answer: "Optimise Now" From The Device Maintenance!)

I've been using SkySafari 6 Plus for a few years and suddenly started finding that the Compass mode is no longer functioning correctly.

I tried Keiron's suggestion (from a different thread) but it did not resolve the problem.

Phone is a Galaxy 7 running Android 8.0.0.

  Hi Paul, 

  I think you can resolve the issue like this:

  1. Uninstall the app
  2. Using a file browser, go to the top level of the SD card and RENAME the directory "SkySafari 6 Plus" as "SkySafari 6 Plus-old"
  3. Now reinstall the app and try again.

  Thanks for the assistance, Keiron.

  As noted above, I have already tried that suggestion to no avail.

  Do you know what is causing this? The app is not useful to me without this functionality.

  I just ran "Optimise Now" from the Device Maintenance menu and the Compass has started to work correctly again.
