Hi I have a skywatcher 130p go to. Would the Pegasus smart eye work with my telescope and what other things would I need in order for it to work?

    Hi Hellen,

    Please try this:

Connecting Sky-Watcher SynScan Mount to SmartEye

Follow these steps to bridge your SynScan mount to the SmartEye Wi-Fi network for integrated control.

    Phase 1: Initial Connection

    1. Boot Mount: Turn on the SynScan mount.

    2. Connect Phone: On your mobile device, go to Wi-Fi settings and connect to the "SynScan" network.

    3. Open App: Launch the SynScan App and tap "Connect."

    Phase 2: Configuring Station Mode

    1. Navigate: Go to Settings > Wi-Fi > Modify Station.

    2. Enable Station Mode: Select and enable the "Modify Station" toggle.

    3. Enter Credentials: * SSID: SmartEye-XXXXXX

      • Password: PWXXXXXX

      • Note: Both fields are case-sensitive.

    4. Apply: Tap "Apply" and wait for the process to complete.

    5. Continue: Tap "Next" (you can ignore the "Read" prompt if it appears).

    Phase 3: Bridging the Network

    1. Power On SmartEye: Turn on your SmartEye.

    2. Switch Wi-Fi: Go to your phone’s Wi-Fi settings and switch your connection to the "SmartEye-xxxxxx" network.

    3. Reconnect App: Re-open the SynScan app and tap "Connect."

    4. Finalize: * Return to Modify Settings. The top of the page should now indicate it is connected to the SmartEye Wi-Fi.

      • Disable the "Access Point Mode" option at the top.

      • Tap "Apply" and wait for completion.

    5. Verify: Tap "Next." You can use the "Read" button to confirm the settings are saved correctly.

Setup Complete! Your mount is now communicating through the SmartEye network.

    General Tips:

    1. Disable Battery Optimization

This prevents Android from "killing" the SmartEye or SynScan apps to save power while they are running in the background.
    • Open Settings > Apps (or Apps & Notifications).
    • Tap See all apps and find the SmartEye or SynScan app.
    • Select Battery or App battery usage.
    • Choose the Unrestricted (or Don't Optimize) option.
If you are on a Samsung device, also check Settings > Battery > Background usage limits > Never sleeping apps and add your astronomy apps there.

    2. Disable Wi-Fi "Auto-Join" (Auto-Reconnect)

Android phones often try to "help" you by switching to a network with a stronger internet signal (like your home Wi-Fi), which will kick you off the SmartEye connection.
    • Open Settings > Network & Internet > Internet (or Connections > Wi-Fi).
    • Look for your Home Wi-Fi network (or any other nearby saved networks).
    • Tap the Gear icon  next to those networks.
    • Toggle OFF the switch for Auto-connect (or Auto-reconnect).

Crucial Step: Repeat this for every saved network in range except for the SmartEye. This forces the phone to stay on the SmartEye network because it no longer has permission to "jump" to your home router.
