SkySafari 6 Plus will not run on Samsung Tab S2

Bought SkySafari 6 Pro yesterday to use with a Celestron CPC925 scope, but I simply can't get it to run on my tablet (Samsung Tab S2, SM-T810, with uptodate Android).

The app keeps closing down right after the intro graphic screen. On one occasion it actually ran, but showed no stars; just a black screen with the menu items. Thankfully I was able to export the log file.

Never had any issues with any app on this tablet before.

I've unistalled/reinstalled several times to no avail.

With Android 12 coming out, you're likely to see support dropping off quickly for many apps. I think SS6 requires Android 8 now, but will let official support respond as such. I understand the frustration too, as I upgraded my tablet almost solely for SkySafari.

Well thinking about it, the tablet does date to around 2016, so perhaps getting on in I.T. terms, but is still a fine tablet running everything like a dream, including Stellarium. Replacement is a possibility, but lets hope the experts in here can find a way to make it work on old faithful. 👍

A whole week since I purchased Skysafari 6 plus and posted here that I cannot get it to run. And still no response from the developers. Have I posted in the wrong place? Or is a week with no product support normal?

Sorry but at this time there is nothing I can do. Our Android developer has been alerted to the issue. And hopefully the issue will be resolved with the next app update.

If you would like a refund please provide your Google Play Store GPA receipt number and I will make it so.

I appreciate the matter has now been passed on to your developer, thanks for that, but can somebody please give me a clue as to the reason it will not run on my 'not very old' Samsung Galaxy tablet? Is it Android version related as Chris eluded to?

Also, if the issue 'may be' resolved in the next Android app update - when is that update scheduled for?

Deeply disappointed by...

1. The utter lack of customer support here. Do the developers referenced at the top of the page not read the customer postings or are they simply not interested in supporting customers?!

2. The fact that your very impressive app is unable to run on such tried and tested widely available hugely popular hardware. Astonishing really!
