How To Reinstall A Previously Purchased Version Of SkySafari 4, 5, 6 On Android? (Answer: Read On!)

Hi. I have to do  factory reset on my tablet.  By the way I've update android from 5.0.2 to 6.0.1
Then I get SS again from the Play Sore
After that, application don't start.  I've contact developer and get reply  that 
"Sky Safari 6 Plus version 6.8.6.3 needs Android 8 or above. 
Sorry for the inconveniences. "
Well , that is really  inconvenience  :-(   
Could you please advise what to do ?
How can I get  older version ? Before factory reset I didn't check  what was my previous version. 
I don't want to  change tablet just for one app.

I'm exchanging mails with app developer and Google Play Store. 

It's typical  ping-pong. Developer  is sugesting contact Play Store for help and Play Store  said that I need contact developer  to get previous version  ;-)

    Sounds like you need a new device. While this may be the only app currently experiencing a problem, many more will soon follow, as Android 6 is far too old to be supported with Android 12 on the horizon. You can try rooting your device and getting a newer Android version, but that too will likely cause issues with old hardware not being able to support features developed over the past few years.

    I'm old model too  ;-) and don't understand this trend to getting new device every year. 

    I hope that Google Play Store will help me to get previous version.

    Adam,

    To reinstall a previously purchase version of SS6 on Android > Google Play Store app (on your device) > My Apps and Games

    All previous apps are available for download again.

    Thanks Keiron. I've did it and only new version is visible. Also when I go to History & Budget I can see SS 6 Plus whith date of purchase 22 November  2019, but there is again new version  6.8.6.3 updated  at 31 July 2021.

    I should do factory  reset earlier :-(

    I think I  have to give up on SS and buy Stellarium Mobile Plus.  Plus version offer  telescope control as well.

    It is not possible to pay for the same app twice provided you are logged into the Google Play Store app (on your device) using the same Play Store account used to make the original purchase (unless you previously refunded the original app purchase).

    Can you give me your Google Play Store GPA number for the purchase of SS6?

    You can find it either in the receipt that was emailed to you when you made a purchase, OR using these steps:

    Hopefully you'll be able to get SkySafari 5 running again on your device.  If you're looking for an older version of SkySafari 6, such as the one that used to work long ago, I'm guessing that is no longer available to be downloaded and installed, but Keiron Smith would know better than me.

    There is only one version of SS6 available in Google Play Store.  It will be the latest version.  There is no way to re-install old versions of SS6 through Google Play Store.

    Chris.  How can I get SS 5 ? Most likely  will be fine for me.  I just need to be able control  Meade LTX 200 and SW AZ GTi system

    SS5 is no longer for sale.

    Per the GPA number provided, SS6 Plus has been purchased.  

    Provided you meet the minimum required Android OS, you should be able to install again, without paying again.

    Hi Chris.  As I've mentioned  afterr factory reset  I have Android  6.0.1 and Samsung  is not provide newest version  for my tablet. That's why I'm looking for older version of SS 6 Plus or SS5 which will  work on my tablet.

    According to  developer Jairo Peralta new version  need  Android 8 or above.  I'm in tuch with him asking for  older  version,  but our conversation is not successful.  I'm willing  to pay  second time  to get older version.  This  will  cost me less than buying new tablet which is working just fine.

    Hello Adam.

    SS 6 Plus needs Android 4.4 or above. It was a mistake in my comment, I am very sorry.

    The app should install OK on your device but things like this happen sometime.

    Please share the following info:

    • Go to Settings -> Memory
      • Average memory usage (MB)
      • Performance
      • Total Memory
      • Average use (%)
      • Free

    With this info (and the other that you provided me) I'm able to simulate your device in a more specific way

    Everything about memory and other requirements looks OK.

    Verify permissions are enabled: Go to Settings -> Applications -> Pick SkySafari 6 Plus -> Permissions

    Permissions for location & memory are enabled.  I don't know what's going on.  On the previous android  version  SS was working  fine.

    Maybe I really need new tablet.  Could you  advise  something which is not to big in size?  8,4 " will do.

    Any mid-range+ tablet should work OK.

    Hi. When I've bought my  Samsung Galaxy Tab S SM-T705 it was one of top models.  Even today specification is as a today mid range tablets.  I don't understand why  SS don't work after updating to 6.0.1 android and was working on previous 5.0.2. It have to be something wrong with android 6. Is it possible to  get previos andoid system ?

    Hey Adam-- I don't see it mentioned anywhere in the thread, but have you tried to simply uninstall and reinstall SS6 on your tablet?

    Hi Chris.  I did it few  times with different scenario.  With and without restarting  tablet. I've also uninstal Bitdefender thinking that  maybe  is blocking  SS. Nothing is helping,  SS window is showing for second then is gone.  One time for a while i could see lower navigation bar.
