How Come Alignment Is Not Possible Using Sky Portal/SkySafari Plus And Celestron's Evolution Mount? (Answer: Contact Celestron Support For Assistance)

Hello, I have the Celestron Nexstar Evolution 9.25. 29.10.21 Align cannot be performed, e.g. Jupiter or Saturn should be too far away. GPS coordinates are correct and N/E too. On the map before I click on the compass Jupiter is shown in the north or east and then in the south, which is almost correct. In the night at 21 and 23 o'clock Jupiter and Saturn are between S/E and are moveing to S. No matter which setting, reinstalled, even with SkyPortal and SkySafari 6 Plus 3 Star Align can not be executed because it does not recognize the positions of the stars. With manual align for e.g. Jupiter the align command is not accepted and a message comes up that the planet should be too far away from the position. I have entered the location manually with GPS, by map and based on my city. My GPS coordinates are according to your map: Latitude 57° 26' 00.7'' Longitude 007° 06' 45.9'' Standard time zone 1.0 The altitude varies between 100 and 163m. Date and time were correct. Tested unsuccessfully on several days with SkyPortal, then yesterday also with SkySafari. According to Google Maps via Browser my coordinates are: 51°26'00.7 "N 7°06'45.9 "E Android 11 RKQ1.200826.002 What I also find very difficult, your apps keep losing connection. I am permanently connected to WLAN with the smartphone and I have the telescope connected to WLAN, this is also permanently connected, but sometimes it runs for a while and the connection remains or it keeps breaking off or I can't get a connection at all. With a direct connection to the telescope, the connection recovery is at least almost always possible. I also often read on the Internet that many customers are affected by connection interruptions with your app. How can this be fixed. Already claimed that the App is not working properly, to get my money back. The function is not guaranteed and the stars / planets are also displayed in the wrong position. Tied again, but only with SkyPortal, do not have SkySafari Plus anymore, because of just not working. The moon is nearby in the correct position, but still the same problem, allign is not possible, message is telling that the object too far away. I have no problem to buy Safari Plus again or Pro, if just an allign is possible. What is the problem, can it be fixed or do I even have to return the whole telescope. BR

    Paco,

Please contact Celestron Support about your difficulties with alignment.

Celestron writes the alignment code that is used by SkyPortal and SkySafari - so they know best what might be difficulty you are encountering.

Also, dropped connections are not from the app.  Dropped connections are from the WiFi, which is built-in to your mount.  Again, this is an issue that Celestron Support can address.

    Thanks!

Having the exact same problem with both SkySafari and SkyPortal. SkySafari does not control the motorized mount. Both applications lose North. When I hit compass, it thinks north is south or south is north. This has nothing to do with the telescope because it happens without the scope on. The referral to Celestron because “they write the alignment code” isn’t an answer.

    Gerald,

Your reply is not, in my opinion, relevant to the OP.

So, please create your own NEW post in the community forums.

In your post, include the following:

    App and version

    1. OS version
    2. Device make and model
    3. Steps to reproduce the issue
    4. Screen recordings or screenshots that clearly demonstrate what the issue is.

We will help you with your issue, once it has been clearly defined, in another post of your own creation.

    Thanks!
