How To Make A Takahashi EM 200 Temma Jr Stop Slewing Using Starry Night Pro 8 And Ascom On Windows 10? (Solution: This Looks Like An Ascom Issue)

Hello

My mount is a Takahashi EM 200 Temma Jr. 

When the telescope starts to slew, the telescope control hand box simulator stops working, and I can't push the stop button in other to stop any slew that is in progress in case I would need to do that.

Am I doing something wrong? Is there any other way to stop the telescope slewing?

    Yesterday I connected my Takahashi EM200 to an IMAC computer and the telescope control hand box simulator worked perfectly while slewing the mount, so I could push the stop button in order to stop any slew that was in progress.

    But with Window 10 this doesn't work as I have already said.

    I know the way MAC and Window choose to connect the telescope is different:

    Windows: On Windows computers, Starry Night controls telescopes with the aid of the ASCOM telescope drive

    Macintosh. On the Macintosh, Starry Night controls telescopes with its own telescope plug-in

    The ASCOM Takahashi Temma driver is old. I don't know if this is causing the problem with Windows, but I don't know of a new Temma ASCOM driver, so I can't do anything to solve this problem

    Any idea?

    I'm going to guess the issue is with the Ascom driver.  On Windows 10, all Starry Night telescope control functionality is derived from the ASCOM driver.

    Is it possible test the ASCOM driver using a different program?

    Hi Keiron.

    I have been using the same ASCOM Takahashi Temma driver withThe Sky 5 for years without any problem.

    And I also use it with Maxim DL and SGP in order to sync. my EM200.

    All of these computer programs work flawlessly with the Temma ASCOM driver.

    Hi Keiron, don’t worry anymore about this.

    In mi experience this kind of problems happen sometimes when yo mix old drivers with new software. Sky5 is also very old.

    For example I can’t use the last version of QSI600 drivers with my QSI640 and I believe it is caused by muy old firmware version.

    Anyway I appreciate your help, and I like your products. Skysafari is one of my favorite software of all times.

    Anyway I hate Windows. My computer is only two years old and it says I can’t update to Windows 11. I love my IMAC. I have it since 2010 and works flawlessly.

    I use a PC to move my astronomy equipment only because to me the focus routine of SGP works awesomely. If only there were an IOS version of SGP…

    And remember that not being able to stop a slew in progress is the only problem when using my Takahashi EM200 with Starry Night in Windows 10,  and it is not a big problem (I always can switch off the power if I need it).

    Thank you Jose for the clarifications!

    Maybe it has something to do with the firmware you are running?  That would make sense.

    Also, if we could get other users to confirm or deny the same issue, that would also help.

    Perhaps Bill Tschumy can comment on this issue?

    Bill replied to me directly, saying only that he had tested with SN8 on MacOS, never on Windows 10 with Ascom.

    Sorry, I can not help much more at this time.
