Is There A FOV Rotation In SNP8? (Answer: Options > View > Flip)

Hello Sim Curr!

Last night, while observing the moon, I noticed it would be super handy if there were some way to "rotate the sky" like a camera rotator might rotate a camera on the end of a scope. This would permit us, for example, to simulate the exact field of view of our telescope. Is such a thing possible? I've searched the guide, all menus, and this forum and I can't find such a feature.

Thanks for any help you might give.

  Hi Doug, 

  If you didn't yet find the solution for this, look in Options > View > Flip

  There is no rotation as you would like.

  Thanks Keiron. I knew about "Flip." But my field of view is often only 30 degrees off. It's only SLIGHTLY disconcerting. It just occurred to me that it might be something SNP had addressed before - but I couldn't find it. Now I know why. Thanks again.

  Happy to report that during our live stream tonight, 5/29/2022, (entitled Herschel 400 Part 2), we unintentionally discovered this very capability. By holding down the shift key while rotating the "mouse wheel" (if your mouse is so equipped), you can rotate the night sky to match the "view" of your scope (even if your scope doesn't have a rotator). This will allow us to perfectly toggle between views from SNP8 to the "live" view in Sharpcap. Yay! Thank you SNP8 programmers!

  Please confirm you are not inadvertently changing the time when you are doing this.  If you have found a way please post a short video, or link to the part in the video already created.

  Keiron! I'll have to wait until I'm back at the office on Tuesday to confirm, but you might possibly be right: The shift key plus right/left arrow seems so pick from the list of observing locations! SNP was so "zoomed in," I hadn't noticed that the observing location window was changing! Thanks for the gracious feedback. My apologies for thinking that we had uncovered an undocumented feature!

  I find with the Shift key pressed:

  1. Scrolling the mouse wheel up/down changes the time.
  2. Left-click and drag the mouse changes the location.
  3. Left-click and use the keyboard arrow keys also changes the location.

  Fingers crossed for you!  Would be a nice surprise feature if indeed you are right.
