How To Align Using SkySafari 7 Pro + Celestron WiFi? (Answer: Read On!)

I can align my Nexstar 6 every time with 2 star align
However when I connect to Celestron Wifi it asks me to align on 3 bright stars... and fails every time
Just to check I am not an idiot, I try to Align my 6se with 2-star-align with the handset and succeed every time, but with Safari 7 Pro (running on android 11) fail every time. Sky Safari seems to talk to the telescope very well. Moves it, etc,

Questions ... Any 3 bright stars ? ( I chose Arcturus, Altair, Vega then I tried Polaris, Altair, Arcturus) Is there a way I can chose and name my 3 stars ? Do I need to start Level North ? Does the star I have selected in Sky Safari have anything to do with the star I am trying to align ? Or are they completely separate things ? I noticed after about 3 failed attempts I could select "Connect", which I did, Aligning on the odd star or 2... still no accuracy at all. Stumped, out to try again !!

Help appreciated.

Do I do an align with the Nexstar 6, then an align with Safari 7 pro ? or skip the first align altogether ?

remove the handset from mount when using celestron wifi, plug the wifi dongle into the handset port.

connect to celestron wifi hotspot on tablet

open up sky safari 7 and verify your date/time is correct, verify your location is correct.

CONNECT  to mount  (not connect and align)   and slew telescope so the tube is horizontal and facing north.

disconnect from the mount on sky safari

then reconnect with connect and align, follow instructions

you do not need to perform a handset alignment when using sky safari with celestron wifi

Thank you, Christopher,  for this procedure ; I managaed to disconnect the hanset from Nexstar 6, but there's no way the Wifi dongle is designed to fit into that port ( and I'm not able to get it in there ), It will however fit perfectly well into the Aux port ot the base of the telescope. I don't see why that should fail, then I can carry on with your instructions. Thank you so much for helping out.

sorry about my confusion regarding the nexstar 6, those aux ports are good too.  the hand control can stay connected to the scope after you become comfortable aligning. just dont use it in tandem with the wifi dongle and sky safari app.

Ah thanks again / good to know... yesterday I was busy, tonight it's cloudy... you know how it goes.
On the night I failed to align I did get to see Saturn's Dione, Rhea and Titan in a line.

Can't wait to get Sky Safari 7 Pro pointing my scope.
