[Database]* Fake Double Stars (Will Fix In Starry Night 8)

Hello,

The using Starry Night Pro (v.7.6.3) on a MacBook, many faint stars are shown twice (but at slightly different positions, separated by 1 to 2 arc-seconds), once with a TYCHO designation and once with a USNO designation. This is very confusing since these are fake double stars, not real double stars. Exactly this same bug is common to SkySafari Pro (7.6.3) on the Mac, except that the designations there are TYC and Gaia. To see this, check out the following stars : STI1987, STI1992, TYC3715-0348-1, TYC3715-0642-1, TYC4438-0663-1, TYC4438-0356-1, TYC4438-0561-1, TYC4438-0659-1, TYC4439-0754-1. See an example in the attached screen copy.

I have just noticed on my iPad that this same "fake double star" bug, which was also present in the iOS platform, has gone away with the latest SkySafari Pro (v. 6.2.1) update. This is really good news. Hope that you will be coming out soon with a solution for both these fine apps for the desktop.

Cheers,

Sergio

Sorry for a bad copy/paste action on my previous post. Of course the SkySafari Pro app version for the Mac is v.6.1.0

    Hello all,

I have just updated to Starry Night Pro v8 (MacBook Pro macOS 10.14.1). I am distressed to report that the fake double star bug is still present in this latest release of Starry Night. See attached screen copy. Any hope of getting it fixed ? (As I sa
id last October, it has been fixed in the lastest iOS version of SkySafari°

    Cheers,

Hey Sergio ILOVAISKY, I find this post very interesting. As just the other day I looked up at the night sky and seen the stars the 1 star just fell out of the sky as if it were hovering and just lost power or something? I mean it literally dropped as if it were a ball or something of that nature and as if fell it flickered and eventually fizzled out like it's power source was dying!! Since then I have been looking into a lot of information and can only come up with 1 LOGICAL exploration. The stars are artificial!! I know it sounds crazy but after looking into this I have seen FAKED NASA videos where the crew was meant to be in space but clearly was NOT. Also ALL 11 of the APOLLO MISSIONS data was somehow "LOST" over 1,000 tapes! Proof that our government has been doing all types of EVIL things like poisoning all of us through the water supply with fluoride to fund BIG pharmaceutical, they put mercury in vaccinations causing autism, they do ALL types of WEIRD, CRAZY, unethical things to us and behind our backs! I bet you didn't know EVERY PRESIDENT and person in POWER as well as some actors are related to 1 person who was the Emperor of Britain and they are ALL RELATED! CRAZY RIGHT?

also is present in SNpp8 windows version...I see from page 133 of the SN8 manual that the USNO files stream in 'as needed'...I also see how making two different catalogues match could be challenging...so having a toggle button added under 'Stars' to temporarily turn off the TYC catalog would be helpful...

hmmm...I did not see that this was in the general Version 7 forum...

I have referenced this post in the Version 8 feature request thread:

Progress in SN8 with data & orbits for commonly observable 'Double' Stars (multiple star systems)?
