Hello,
The using Starry Night Pro (v.7.6.3) on a MacBook, many faint stars are shown twice (but at slightly different positions, separated by 1 to 2 arc-seconds), once with a TYCHO designation and once with a USNO designation. This is very confusing since these are fake double stars, not real double stars. Exactly this same bug is common to SkySafari Pro (7.6.3) on the Mac, except that the designations there are TYC and Gaia. To see this, check out the following stars : STI1987, STI1992, TYC3715-0348-1, TYC3715-0642-1, TYC4438-0663-1, TYC4438-0356-1, TYC4438-0561-1, TYC4438-0659-1, TYC4439-0754-1. See an example in the attached screen copy.
I have just noticed on my iPad that this same "fake double star" bug, which was also present in the iOS platform, has gone away with the latest SkySafari Pro (v. 6.2.1) update. This is really good news. Hope that you will be coming out soon with a solution for both these fine apps for the desktop.
Cheers,
Sergio
